GotTriplets.com

After much thought (actually, about 30 seconds), I decided to launch a new domain, www.gottriplets.com to supplement www.ericandtobie.com. I guess the idea behind this is to eventually create an Internet destination when it comes to triplets.

Since we found out we were pregnant with triplets, I’ve been to probably every triplet related resource on the Internet. Lots of them are just plain garbage, from bad website designs to just rehashing the same old information. Anyways, this will be a pet project for me, not that most of you care since you don’t have triplets. Anyways for the time being www.ericandtobie.com will be live, but eventually I’m going to change that website so it is separate from my new endeavor.

For all you Simpson’s lovers our there: Worst post ever.

Got Blog?

I’ve moved my posts to a blogger hosting company. What does that mean? I’m not sure! Just kidding. You can now leave comments about a post. Just click on the comments link at the bottom of each post. Just remember my parents read these posts. Let me know if you find any problems with the comments section. Wow I think this is my first unfunny post. Phew good save!

The Belly Cometh

eric   October 24th, 2005      3 comments...sweet!

Okay, I hear you loud and clear. You can only take so many pictures of those kids and Tobie’s uterus. Here are some pictures of their mobile home. (Just for the record, Tobie’s belly was smaller than this before we got pregnant. She wants to make that perfectly clear, got it?). She has already put on 20 pounds. 40 pounds more to go! he he. Enjoy.

Got Movies?

Okay, here is some video of our last ultrasound. It’s kind of hard to figure out what you are looking at without the nurse telling you. We had to rip it from VHS to DVD to MPEG, so there is some quality loss (thanks goes out to Tobie’s dad for getting it to digital for us).

Anyways, I broke out this video into 4 files for smaller downloads. Each video is about 20 megs. That probably means nothing to 95% of you. Anyways, just download it to your computer and play it with Windows Media Player or whatever program you use to watch video. I better not find any of you selling our video to some fetus fetish group or Ebay.

This ultrasound was kind of long because the nurse was measuring each baby’s fetal membrane (or something like that). They are able to tell if there are any chromosomal defects by the size of the membrane. We passed.

Just click on the links below and it should launch your default media player. It could take some time to load and start playing depending on your connection. If you are using dial-up, forget it (why are you so cheap? just get high speed already!). To save the files to your hard drive (which I recommend), just right click on each file and choose Save Target As.

Finally an update

eric   October 21st, 2005      1 comment...cool!

Holy moly. I don’t update the website for a couple of weeks and I have people complaining. You people should just be happy I put up a website at all. Anyone who knows me knows I plan big but don’t follow through till completion. Sheesh. It’s official, this is the last post in the first trimester blog because now we are in the second trimester. Woo hoo! As Rob Schiender would say “You can do it!”

Tobie had another Dr. visit today. Our doctor wasn’t there but another one filled in. I’m telling you this right now, if you are ever going to get pregnant, make sure you have triplets because the doctors at this clinic are so nice and talkative. Each one of our doctor’s visits have lasted over an hour with us just talking about everything going on. When we saw Tobie’s normal OB, it was like “Hello how are you, you look fine, goodbye”. No personalization what so ever.

Anyways, the babies are about 3 inches each. You can actually see distinct features on them. One of them looks like an alien. I’m just assuming that one thinks its Halloween now. I thought we were having 3 boys until the nurse told me I was looking at the umbilical cords. Dang it. It will be probably another couple of weeks before we know the sexes. We took a video tape of the ultrasound. We plan on putting it up on the website once we convert it to digital. Tobie wants me to add music to it and graphics. What am I Steven Spielberg? Star swipe, cross fade, star swipe, cut (Simpson’s reference).

We have another doctor visit in about a week. They are going to measure Tobie’s cervix or something like that. I think I’m going to pass on going to that appointment. If I have to hear about how Tobie’s cervix is so long and great one more time I’m going to…never mind.

Houston the doctor has landed.

eric   October 6th, 2005      1 comment...cool!

We had our first official visit with the doctor that will be handling our pregnancy yesterday. Dr. Francious or something like that. She is a high risk pregnancy specialist in the Phoenix Prenatal clinic. Her clinic is a group of doctors that have delivered more quads than any other group of doctors in the world, ever! So triplets should be a piece of cake. Her office is located at Scottsdale North, which is cool since it is so close to the house, however they deliver at Good Sam in downtown Phoenix (west sidddee!). I guess we can’t have everything. It will be a pain on the butt to visit the babies when they are in the NICU. I guess that’s thinking too far ahead.

They went over all the food requirements and care Tobie should have for the remainder of her pregnancy. Based on their calculations, Tobie should have gained an additional 4 pounds by now. So if you see her and she isn’t holding a bear claw or a twinkie, give her some food! They are only recommending she gain a total of 60 pounds. I guess we are 1/6th there (the doctor said it is not okay to count the weight I’ve gained).

Other than that, everything is on course. The Dr. did tell us about a current patient that had triplets they were carried to 35 weeks. That is pretty cool. The Dr. actually said it was probably a good thing that the babies would be in the NICU for a period of time. That would allow us to prepare for their arrival after the birth.

Here is our latest ultrasound. It’s hard to see in the image below, but the tadpoles look like babies now (you can click on the image for a larger view). Some were doing flips, some were waving. So freaking cool!

Rent a homer?

eric   October 3rd, 2005      Comments Off

So we just figured out with the change in Tobie’s work’s healthcare plans, these babies are going to cost a whole lot more than we realized to get them out of her belly. So we have asked people to come up with creative suggestions to lesson the financial burden. Here are the top suggestions:

  1. Auction the rights to name a baby: We could put the rights to name one of these babies on EBay. The highest bidder gets to choose.

pro: We could make a lot of money.
con: We don’t like any of your names, so forget it.

  2. NICU Visit-Pledge-A-Thon: Similar to the Cancer Walk-A-Thons people hit me up for. Instead of pledging a dollar amount per mile walked, you can pledge a dollar amount for each day each baby spends in the NICU.

pro: You do the math: 3 babies * (~30-60 days in the NICU) = $$ Cash $$
con: That’s just wrong, I can’t believe someone suggested that.

  3. Sell one of the babies: You will have still have 2…

    pro: none
con: Who suggested this. I’m in shock. Seriously email me, we can talk.

  4. Baby Due Date Pool: We can auction off days for cash when you think Tobie is going to pop.

pro: # of days X cash = more cash
con: Since she is probably going to be induced early and the Doctor’s will know her due date in advance, you have just cost us money by fixing the pool. Bad idea.

  5. Advertise your business on our babies: We can have the trips wear your business logo or for a little extra we can have it tattooed to their bodies. As they grow up your business will get national exposure as they will be the only triplets at a national sporting event with their shirts off advertising your business instead of the home team.

pro: There is nothing wrong with selling out to the man.
con: What if I have girls? Okay, no tattoos.

  6. Make Tobie get a second job: She currently only works 10 hours a day, what about the remaining 14 hours?

pro: She’ll bring home the cash baby!
    con: Can’t think of any.

Okay these were all terrible ideas. I guess we will not be selling out our unborn babies, but what about our puppies? Hmmmm…

Advertise on Homer

For those of you who don’t know, Golden Palace is a gambling web site that pays people to do outrageous things for advertising. They once paid this woman $10K to tattoo their web site name on her forehead. Now that you know this, the joke works, right?
