First off, it’s snowing here in AZ. It really hasn’t rained here since October. Absolutely crazy I tell you (Isn’t this how The Day After Tomorrow started?). Snow isn’t the only thing this storm has brought. It’s been about a week or so since the hospital has called us at home (Yeah, we still jump everytime the phone rings). 9 am this morning, my phone rings. Caller ID says it’s the NICU. What’s even more odd is they normally call Tobie’s phone first. My heart started beating quickly. What could it be? It’s Cole’s nurse, she just wanted to say hello and let us know Cole was off of CPAP and put on good old O2. What? How did this happen? We had just talked to one of the doctors earlier in the week and we weren’t even going to think about O2 for Cole for at least a couple of weeks. I guess Cole kept pulling out his CPAP tubes so they used the opportunity to put him on O2 because they had slowly been weaning him on his O2 CPAP settings. So how is he doing on O2? Freaking brilliant! His blood gases are doing great, his breathes per minute are great, is O2 settings are great. It’s like a switch went off in him that said, quit pussy footing around and start getting better so you can come home.
Paige is now 1 ounce shy of 4 pounds. I’m not sure how this happened. It just seems like yesterday she was around 2 pounds. She didn’t want anything to do with Tobie’s boobs today, so she took about 8 cc from the bottle. Cole is still trying to catch up weight wise at 3 pounds 9 ounces. They have upped his feedings to 35 cc/feed. Paige is at 36cc/feed. Cole will probably be introduced to breast feeding tomorrow. I have a feeling he is going to like it a lot more than Paige.

Hee hee…pulled out the cpap. that’s kind of how Lessa ended up on cannula. The nurses were sick of intubating her & said “the hell with it, just see if the cannula will work”. Go Cole! What’s that crazy glob of wax on their cheeks?
Paige’s pound packing is a great sign too. As far as the boob, you opened yourself up to some prime jokeage, but I’m hoping to stay friends with you guys.
