I guess yesterday they took another x-ray of Cole’s lungs to see how they looked. They looked fantastic, better than they have ever looked before. He also continued his super weight gain by packing on another 2 ounces (5 #12 ounces). Paige has decided to not gain any more weight to let her brother catch up (ahh isn’t she sweet?). Cole was also weaned down to .2 O2. There is also talk of weaning him to .1 O2 this week. If that happens, he’ll be at the same setting as his sister. Cole also continued to kick butt with nippling. He is woofing down his bottles. Paige unfortunately just doesn’t have the energy to suck the thickened feeds. If she doesn’t get her act together in the next 2 weeks, she’ll be coming home with a ng tube down her nose. Someone even mentioned his hernia operation today. Things are definitely in motion.

Wow, that’s quite the turnaround.
If the feeds are too thick, would they consider cutting the thickening to 1/2 so that it still goes down the right tube, but is easier for her to take?
Glad to hear the babies are doing so well! Sounds as though you better get ready for a homecoming party!

If the feeds were any lighter they would go down the wrong tube. When they do the barium test they can immediately see where the fluid goes with each type of thickner. Paige uses the second to last of the heavy thickners.
I am so glad to hear how well the babies are doind. I know i mentioned this before but can’t remember if you said anything back about it. When our baby had the thickened feeds she would also get tired and not finish. It was finally recommended that they try a fast flow nipple and she was finally able to take her bottles. We got the fast flow from the speech therapist.
Eeeeeexcellent.
YAY! I think Cole is definitely looking bigger now!
