Tuesday Ramblings

eric   April 26th, 2006

Let’s see, Paige weighs a hair more than 7 pounds. Cole continues to put on 1-2 ounces a day. The babies nippling is nothing short of frustrating. Everytime it seems they are getting it, they don’t nipple worth a dang. It feels like we are back at square one with them. Even though we are about 3 weeks from them coming home, I have resigned myself that they will come home with feeding tubes. Cole was weaned down to .1 O2. We had the nurse bump it back up to .2 because he was drifting a lot with his sats. The doctor talked about scheduling Cole’s hernia surgery today. We should know sometime this week when that surgery will happen. I’m guessing sometime next week or early the following week. Once the surgery is done, we will probably only have a couple of NICU days left. The babies are supposed to be put back into one crib tonight. About time, it’s a shame they have been away all this time except for brief visits on Tobie’s chest.

“What, little ol’ me not nipple? I don’t know what you are talking about, I love to nipple”

“No more nippling!”

Good to hear the babies are doing well! I’m sure your babies will catch on with nippling. I remember this being very frustrating. I’m sure the nurses have taught you all the tricks…like tickling their cheek or chin. Glad to hear they will be back together again. I’m sure they have missed each other.Good luck with Cole’s surgery! I’m just so excited that your babies have come so far. I always enjoy reading about your updates!

I am glad to keep reading that your babies are doing so well. I know I can say this now but try not to let the nippling frustrate you too much. Ours were teh same way and one still is but the other two finally got the hang of it before they came home. Ella is still on her feeding tube but she is started to take full bottles finally so it will happen. The hardest part about tube feedings is when they decide to %&*^#%* pull the dang thing!!! It is traumatic on us just to put it back in!!!! Keep the faith and now that the tube will soon be a thing of the passt.

Wow… sounds like it could even be less than 3 weeks if they’re scheduling Cole’s surgery so soon! Just think… 16 years from now you won’t be able to keep the fridge stocked because Cole will be bringing over his buddies all the time and eating you out of house and home!!! :)
