Eye Doc & Other Stuff

Grandma left for TX yesterday. It’s back to the daily grind with the babies. Luckily to help pick up the slack, Aunt Nikki will be coming for a few days starting Sunday.

We went for a follow-up eye appointment today. We had both babies checked this time. Cole is still all good, Paige is the same as last time. We see the eye doc again next week for just Paige. He did mention that we will have to patch one of Paige’s eyes for a while. Super. She was just telling me the other day how she wanted to be a pirate for Halloween. I guess Halloween comes early this year.

Cole continues to be Mr. Interactive. We have introduced him to Baby Einstein. His eyes get so big watching it. He even started crying when it was over, telling mommy to turn it back on (is this a good habit to have so young?). He has asked to have a TV in his room (okay, I already bought one for his room, but that was for me and the 2 am feed). Paige is definitely behind developmentally than Cole. She doesn’t really smile and doesn’t interact much. This raises the question, “Where the heck is Early Intervention”? It’s been well over a month since we had our evaluation. Should they change their name to “When we get around to it intervention”? If I find out that something was held up again because of paper work…well there is nothing I can do, but I’m going to be very mad, and you don’t want to see Eric mad (turns green like the Hulk). Hopefully we will hear from someone next week.

Oh, almost forgot, Praxair called and left a message today. They do not want to bring the big O2 tank upstairs anymore for the babies room. Not sure how this one is going to play out. Stay tuned.

Glad to hear that in the eye dept. nothing more has changed. Zoe may have wer a patch also but fo rnow it is just glasses.

As for EI, do you have a contact person you can call? I don’t remember havin to wait a long time. I think we filed all our paperwork in December and we had a developmental therapist by January or February at the latest. Don;t even get me started on Physical or speech therapy. At least speech is no longer needed due to my sheer stubborness!! We finally got a call to start PT but only for one baby, she didn;t realize it was triplets! Needless to say she backed out.

As for PRAXAIR, they are a joke. I hated them. Never gave us a call before just showing up and not sending people who knew how to prgram themonitors. I would say since the babies are upstairs that is where the O2 needs to be, so ifs ands or buts about it.!!!!

I agree with Suzan…..what help are they if they aren’t going to bring the O2 to where the BABIES are??? HELLO !!! We WANT Paige & Cole to be able to sleep upstairs in thier OWN cribs like babies are supposed to do crazy O2 people!!! Man, if it were me….well, lets just say I’d be less than pleasant!!

As far as the EI – I’d be showing up at thier office :)

These companies all act like you both enjoy having to go through all of this hassle. HMMM -that would be a big NO !!!

I’m joining the crowd about the oxygen people. That’s crazy. The oxygen goes where the babies are, not the other way around. We have twins who were on oxygen for 3 months at home and our company (in Michigan) ALWAYS brought the H tanks upstairs. They also gave us smaller tanks for the family room. You might have to be a pain in their backside on this one, the lazy bums.
We have had EI to our house twice so far, through the school district. I don’t know if that’s how it works in AZ, but if you haven’t tried that route, you may want to. Also, our NICU set all that up for us–maybe you could call them?
Good luck–you just shouldn’t have to deal with the hassels. Your little ones are beautiful–I love your videos.

I really love reading your site and check on your little ones each day while I am at work. My Emma is a 24 weeker born 12-2005(we lost her twin at 13 days old) so I can relate so much to your daily happenings. EI showed up pretty quickly for us but another family that was in the NICU when we were ended up calling to see why they hadn’t come and discovered they had no paperwork for their son. I quess if she hadn’t called, they would have never shown up. What do babies do that don’t have proactive parents?? Thanks for letting me share your journey.

Hi guys!! I have never posted before, but have been a faithful follower of the blog since I first saw your story on TC. Paige and Cole are looking awesome!!!
I just wanted to comment on the EI people. Ours here are also with the school system, so for the summer they have very limited hours. We normally have OT and the “teacher” come every 2 weeks during the year, but for the summer they are only coming 2 times total until september. Not very helpful, but maybe that is the reason they are so slow to get back to you???????

Tell Praxair they always have the option of installing a main line right into the house.
