“Take that bow off my head now!”
Tobie here:
Oh my gosh! Seriously…Why didn’t anyone tell me how exhausting taking care of babies is?? I have my wonderful sis-in-law here with me this week, I had my fabulous mom-in-law here last week and the babies’ great-grandma (aka g-g-ma) is coming for two weeks next week and I’m still exhausted!! The babies are crazy awake all day now wanting interaction and it sucks every last bit of energy out of me. Both my mom-in-law and my sis-in-law have commented, “I don’t know how you do it, I’m exhausted” and they don’t even wake up in the middle of the night for the feedings, nor have they been doing it for 10+ weeks!! Not that I’m complaining (okay a little bit) but I love the babies and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Their smiles are my overpriced gasoline and keep me going when my body is shutting down. And they are smiling at everything I say! It’s the best audience I’ve ever had…Everything I say is the wittiest thing they’ve ever heard. It’s great! They laugh at all my bad jokes!
So we had another peed appt today. Great news.
Eric here: Yep, Tobie couldn’t finish another post. Do I always have to pick up the slack? Anyways the peed said the babies look great. Cole is Mr. 11 pounds now. Paige is just 1/2 pound heavier. The doctor called Paige robust. That’s good right? We are starting the babies on rice cereal tonight. He said in about 6 weeks we will start baby food. I didn’t think it would come that soon. We are going to give Cole lasik more periodically to keep that fluid off his lungs.
Cole did have a terrible weekend of eating. We were kind of worried. He was…
Tobie again: Cole did have a bad weekend of eating. It’s just that we were tracking his intake for the last two weeks so we could see when he had bad days. Normally his bad days were followed by really good days so it all balanced out. So back to the peed appt….the doctor doesn’t want to see us again for 3 weeks. Wow! No more weekly appts? How am I going to fill the days?? Just kidding. Going to these appts is not as easy as it’s cracked up to be and the nurses don’t seem to understand that our arriving late is not because I changed my outfit a few times (as was the reason pre-babies) but more that we had a last minute bathroom incident, fit of hunger, or other need to change the babies’ clothes. So to start going every 3 weeks….great news!
Eric again: I had to have the last word. We gave the babies Destin Creamy for their buttocks when it’s a little raw. So I have to ask, they make Destin Creamy, do they also make Destin Crunchy?

Mmm, mushed peas and brocolli. Eric, I hear the pureed turkey and yams isn’t half bad.
You’ll have to let me know if baby food spit up is any more pleasant than liquified version.
Congrats on the heavyweight contenders.
YEAH !! Good news for the Kaufman babies !! We are glad they are doing so well……sorry you are so tired….I agree with the in-laws…HOW DO YOU DO IT???
Gina
You are a great mother, that’s how !! Can’t wait to start seeing pics on the blog of the babies once they start eating “real food”.
Wonderful, wonderful news!
We found that Desitin Creamy works wonderful as a prevention measure (and were told to use it daily), but Desitin original (or “Desitin Consentrated” rather than “Desitin Crunchy”) seems to kick the rawness better for our babes.
Teamwork! I love it!
As for Desitin, better to not ask. Just like you don’t ask “What happened to Preparation A through G?”
I like the comment about smiles=overpriced gas.
And robust is a great diagnosis. When i use the term at work in relation to machinery, it’s always positive, meaning able to withstand a wide variety of unforseen happenings. So jolly good job on robustifying the old girl.
Viscouse is right, your doctor must be a former geek. If Cole starts moving around a lot and is stretching out during his appointment in 3 weeks, he might be deemed scalable.
I guess that makes the two parents legacies?
Erika from the TC here - checking on you and seeing all the wonderful progress on your precious little ones! Not sure how we do it - but we get though each day…….and thoses smiles - yes - they keep it going. Hey - I agree Desitin Original works best - forget the new creamy version!!

13 months already!
Baby food…
just a tidbit that I heard from another parent - supposedly the Bumbo’s work well for feedings: easy to clean, portable (can put on a table), and inescapable (for awhile anyway)
