Tobie here:
So we haven’t posted in a while any news, just great pics. So here’s an update.
Cole: The boy is sooooo active. He’s trying to pull himself up on things lately. It’s kind of sad and cute to watch. He has yet to achieve actually pulling himself up on anything. He either misjudges the distance to what he’s reaching for and then crashes forward, or he reaches it, but is not strong enough to pull himself up so he’ll slide down object or go flailing the other direction. It’s hard as a parent to encourage this because he ends up hurt most of the time, but how else will he ever learn? I really encourage it in his crib when he reaches for the top of the railing because he’ll slide down the soft bumper or fling himself onto the soft mattress. So lately I’ve spent a lot more time dressing them and hanging out in their room so he can explore. His eating is still not so good. Thanksgiving dinner was inedible for them. The sweet potatoes had nuts, the mashed potatoes (the only thing I could feed them) were too lumpy, and the pie was pecan. Bummer. The ice cream diet was a flop too. He seemed to spit up more when on the ice cream and puked up ice cream smells so bad!! He sees the GI doc this week and I’m once again afraid. One last Cole thought: he learned a couple of days ago to make the “ppffhh” sound when he sticks his tongue out. Paige obviously is teaching him her Klingon speech because she has been making that sound for a couple of weeks and she’s also recently taught Cole a few “Kkkka” sounds.
Paige: That girl can talk. Seriously…at 5 am she is all about juicy gossip. She talks and talks and it’s not language that anyone would understand. There are no consonants or vowels in her language…just lots of squeals, raspberries, and spit gurgling. So cute! I’ve been trying to bribe her to move for weeks. I have been successful in getting her to roll to her left, but she still prefers to roll right. Tummy time is miserable still and I’m convinced she will be two years old before she crawls. She is sitting quite nicely and can maintain a sitting position by herself for a few minutes. Okay, maybe I’m overexaggerating…it’s probably a minute or so before she teeters over to one side.
He who shall not be named: Still doing good. He was very active on last ultrasound. This week I begin weekly progesterone shots to keep him in my belly as long as possible. So far so good. I have noticed that at night my lower stomach aches. Not contractions, but a heavy pressure sensation. I was trying to remember this from last pregnancy, but don’t. I remember contractions, and I think they even started this early. I am definitely mentioning the heavy feeling to my OB at the next appt. I think it’s from running around all day and night with the babies, up and down the stairs, up and down off the floor, lifting and putting the babies down, etc, etc. The pressure is only at night and when I wake up the next day, it’s gone. Weird. At my last OB appt, my doctor and I had the discussion about c-section vs. natural childbirth. When my OB said that I would not be able to lift anything over 10 lbs (P & C) for 4-6 weeks after another c-section, I instantly opted for the natural birth. Scary, but exciting. She said they would not induce me unless I went to 41 weeks. Please God, let me have that problem!! Also, she would deliver me at the hospital next to our home which is much more convenient than the hospital downtown that I delivered at last year. All in all the conversation was inspiring and exciting and very early in my opinion. I don’t even really want to think or talk about delivering for another few months so I don’t jinx anything.
Thanksgiving: very nice to celebrate a holiday. We had dinner at our house. Eric spent the entire day cooking an amazing meal in the kitchen. My family came over early and spent time with P & C. The babies were so well behaved. My mom also bought two cribs for us to keep downstairs for the babies to take naps. That way I would have less trips every day up and down the stairs. Very thoughtful. Anyways, my brother and dad put them together on the holiday which did not look easy. Seriously, all these baby gizmos are so complicated!! Even though Thanksgiving was very nice, it’s going to be equally as nice to celebrate other Holidays outside of the home where we can just show up, look pretty, and leave without all the hassle that goes into hosting a Holiday dinner.
We have a lot of scary appts coming up this week. GI, pulm, and eye appts along with all our therapies and my cervical checks. Wish us luck!!

Tobie:
I know you are anxious about a lot of things, I wish I could take away some of that anxiety. I am crossing my fingers that the GI appt goes well with Cole.
As for Paige, she’s starting early on the gossip…if only you could figure out what she’s saying.
Way to go, Eric on the Thanksgiving dinner! Keep it up, and Tobie might just keep you around
I am so glad that you have two cribs downstairs, now maybe you won’t have to be up and down all day!
I hope that your cervix stays nice and long, and Zeenab will stay on his best behavior! I know it must have been a little nerve-wracking to think about delivery this early on, but I am crossing my fingers that they’ll have to induce you at 41 wks!
Hang in there, you’re doing a great job!
Our boys loved the Fisher Price Gymnastics wall. They used it for almost a full year…first to sit up and play with the toiys, then to pull themselves up on the handles (made for this reason), crawled through the sides, and last they played peekaboo or chase around it. Great toy that you should see if Santa can bring!
It is great to read an upbeat report about the babies. Not that all of them aren’t, but this one seemed particularly cheerful.
For that lack of Cole eating he sounds like he has a lot of energy. Hopefully the Gi doc will have some other insights for you. Hopefully the tube will still not be an option. Maybe you should try talking to Cole to find out what he would like to eat :).
As for Paige, She will crawl when she is ready. Ella, who was our smallest when born, jsut started to crawl a few weeks ago. The babies are 15 months (but only 11 months adjusted). We were worried about her but I think she was jsut watching the other two and finally decided the time was right. She has progressed quickly now too. She is pulling herself up to a sitting and standing position.
Tobie, so what is it like to have a somewhat normal pregnancy? It is exciting to hear you may be able to have a natural birth. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
One last thing, I agree with the previous poster about the Fisher Price Gymtastics Wall. It is GREAT!!! Our triplets love it. They play hide and seek with each other, love to set the music off, and one even tries to use it to climb up to the playroom window. I would also suggest the tunnel attachment that you can purchase for it. Ours love tunnels so we will be getting that for Christmas.

For the heavy tummy feeling, try one of those under belly support belts. When I was preggo with my twins I worked up to 28 weeks…during the last 2-3 weeks I was getting the same feeling - kinda like all of my lower ab muscles were slowly being stretched to the floor. I got one of those belts and it really helped out. Once I went on bedrest it was useless, but for those few weeks it was a lifesaver!
