Baby Update

tobie   February 6th, 2007

Hope everyone had a great Super Bowl weekend. We made our first social call of the season and went over to our neighbor's house where Ty and Steph had their annual Super Bowl party. I think we realized it might have been a little too much for the babies when the house erupted after the opening kick off was returned for a touchdown. The babies were freaked! Way too loud for their little ears. They are so not used to loud noises. I was able to have one beer before our early exit. Oh well, maybe next year daddy can get a little more sauced! I kid, I kid!

So baby girl woke up this morning talking. Not her normal talking and grunting, but more of a "Da Da". It's been non-stop all day. Our speech therapist said once they get started talking like this, they are non-stop. No kidding! Tobie really wants her to start saying "Ma Ma". What can I say, she's daddy's little girl! Paige is also rolling around more. She's probably just a few weeks away from being mobile on her own accord. She only really moves now if there are puffs awaiting her or she is reaching for a toy and Cole is heading to take that toy for his own. On the eating front we have yet to find a food she she doesn't like. Actually the only food she doesn't care for is baby food. She can literally eat an entire grilled cheese sandwich by herself. What can I say, she's daddy's little girl!

Cole is such a mover and shaker lately. This kid can move! Every 3 nights it's bath night. Tobie and Paige take a bath first while I entertain Cole. I'll put Cole on the floor in the hallway and he'll crawl around the corner into the master bedroom, through a door, until he makes his way into the bathroom. What I find most interesting about that is he remembers where the bathroom is. How cool is that? He's also doing much better at standing. His old way of getting from a stand position to the ground would be to just fall over. He'll now kneel and use his hands to support himself. We no longer have to hover around him because he might fall on his back. How's his eating you ask? I'm afraid to write about it. It seems every time we have some minor breakthrough, he reverts back to old Cole in a few days. We started feeding him Pediasure today. This stuff is like a nutritious baby milkshake. Cole loves it! Not only has his intake been great today, he hasn't fought the bottle once and has welcomed it. Has he not been eating this whole time because formula is nasty tasting? I don't know, we'll see if the trend continues tomorrow. Pediasure is about $2/8 ounce bottle. This stuff ain't cheap, but if baby boy likes it, baby boy gets it! Maybe this is the baby version of daddy's Red Bull fix!

Oh, we are 27 and half weeks pregnant! We are almost in the 3rd trimester. Sweet!

And did I mention it's 80 degrees here? Sorry rest of country!

Caitlin to is on pediasure and it wroks great!! We also just get the store brand of it( a few bucks cheaper)same exact stuff. We even get the one with fiber in it to help regulate her. We did notice though Caitlin will spit up alot of straberry but does super good with vanilla. This should help his weight gain really good to. Caitlin gained a pound in two weeks which was a huge step for us.Also we add just a tablespoon of oatmeal just for a few extra calories and to thicken it just a bit!!Yeah Cole!!

Old wives tales say that a baby who says DaDa first will predict a baby girl the next time around… Worked for us, all three boys said DaDa first and we got two girls out of it! Get ready Eric… You may soon be outnumbered! :)

Well a certain somebody is going to have a certain operation so another certain somebody shouldn’t have anymore certain somebodies. If the certain somebody did have a girl somebody, then that certain somebody would have a lot of explaining to do. Are we clear? :)

I like that nice little dig at the end there. Compared to where you are, it’s a whopping -80° here.

I can’t beleive how mobile your little tikes are. It seems to me that we’v just…plataued movementwise.

Congrats on your 13 monthers, and your 27.5 weeker!

Hey Eric, greeting from cold and dreary Virginia. Just wanted to let you know that no one likes a bragger- so keep your 80 degree weather to yourself! :)

Keeping my fingers crossed that Cole chugs the pediasure, if I have some coupons I’ll send them to you.

Hmmm…seems like I touched a nerve with the weather comment. I guess I shouldn’t bring up the fact I’m wearing shorts today?

Really? A need for something permanant? In 5 years you may want another certain somebody to give you certain baby slobber kisses!

Great update! So happy for the kiddos. Yeah that Pediasure isn’t cheap. But hey, if they need it, we’ll do anything to get it right? Glad you guys got to step out a bit during the football game. I can only imagine how our kiddos would have reacted. We kept a low profile this year. Anyway good post. 27 weeks! Yeah!
