Tobie here:
We had a busy busy weekend this last weekend, but nothing in comparison to the coming weekend. We went to the Mothers of Multiples sale on Saturday which is a huge sale the organization has twice a year. There was a lot of things to buy, mostly clothes, but the main things we went for weren’t available. We need a new triplet stroller. This is so ironic because we had bought a really nice one last year for the triplets (which I pretty much made Eric give away after Kaylee passed) because seeing it in the garage made me so emotional I didn’t want to go into the garage until it was gone. Now I think we’re going to need one. Or a heavy-duty back carrier in the meantime so I can carry Cole on my back and push the new baby and Miss Paige. (No way I’m carrying Paige on my back!!). What we ended up walking away with from the sale was maternity clothes for $1 to finish out my pregnancy with. Yes, you read that right, $1.
We also attempted Operation Tough Love this weekend. The first day it was great. After shopping all day and going to Chick-Fil-A for lunch the babies were pretty sacked out and fell asleep after 4 min of crying for Paige, and 1 minute for Cole. Yesterday was not so successful and Operation Tough Love may need some more consideration. We are attempting to put the babies to bed without bottles, wide awake, and on a set time schedule. If it works, it would be extremely helpful when the new baby arrives. Up until now, I would rock both babies to nap, usually giving Cole a bottle. I would have to do one baby at a time, taking up to 20 minutes per baby and by the time the second baby was down, the first baby would be waking up. I could still do this even with the new baby…but it would be a lot easier if naps would just be a “sure, okay Mom, I’ll go to sleep now” thing. Speaking of sleeping…Paige is definitely sleeping through the night now. She will still wake up two or three times a night standing on the edge of her crib wailing until someone comes and puts her back down. It only takes ~1 minute to put her back to sleep so I consider this sleeping through the night. She normally doesn’t resist being laid back down. Cole has been sleeping through the night for the last three nights which is good and bad. Good for Mommy, bad for Cole’s weight gain as we like to get one more bottle in him per day. And no, he is not compensating for the lost bottle during the day.
This coming week I am so excited about. Saturday I have an appt with some hot firemen to install our car seats. Cole unfortunately will still not be forward-facing since he is 1 pound shy of the requirement, but he will be graduating to the big-boy car seat and handing over his infant seat to his new little brother. My aunt also comes into town on Saturday, my parents are on spring break, and we are going to have a project-filled week of decorating the babies’ rooms and organizing closets, assembling furniture, making my room also a nursery and putting up black-out shades on the windows since it’s so hot and bright during the day. Eric will be installing even more baby gates throughout our house (it’s ridiculous how many baby gates are needed), hopefully getting our pool fence ordered, and otherwise baby-proofing the remainder of the house. It’s not so much of nesting for the new baby, but more desperately trying to finish what is needed for these guys. Okay, maybe a little excitement for the new baby too. I washed all our outfits for the hospital this weekend and started putting together my hospital bag too. It’s getting close!! ![]()

I know it may sound silly, but the thing that made me smile was that you were packing your bag for the hospital. That means you are nearing the end of your healthy, term pregnancy! That is a huge accomplishment. Congrats,I can’t wait to “see” the little guy!
Hi Tobie,
I wasn’t able to respond to your email because we’re having some minor computer issues….
Operation Tough Love is toughest on us the parents! Yes, we’ve done it. Yes, it’s worth it. Yes, it will eventually work. Yes, it’s painstakingly nerve-wracking as you know that your child is crying for you. Namir told me to try and call over the weekend, and things just got crazy - once our email’s back up I’ll re-read yours and respond more fully, but you’re ALWAYS welcome to call! Just remember, everyone has their opinions, but it’s you who is living in your house and having to raise your children… it tears me up inside to know that however we choose to raise our children, there will always be people who have different opinions of what’s better for our children and who will judge us unkindly.
Congrats on getting so much done around the house, on getting out with the kids, and for making it so far into your pregnancy!
(P.S. Hoping to make it to a Moms of Multiples sale here this weekend! There are 3 groups in the area, all having sales in spring in fall!)
I love reading your updates. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I have to say, though, that my heart went out to you when you were explaining your feelings about the triplet stroller. I can not imagine how that would feel.
If you are interested, we have a genlty used 2002 Peg Perego that we bought from a triplet mom. I can email you pictures of it if you are interested. You can hav eit for free. If you don’t want it, DH is going to throw it in the garbage. Just let me know.

HI !!
You’ve been busy !!
Now I know why I haven’t talked to you in a few days
Sounds like you’re getting a lot done !! I know that was all weighing on your mind.
Sorry the crying at sleep time thing is still going on. I agree with Pam - you have to do what is right for you guys. Don’t listen to anyone’s ctitisism….
I know what is also like to be torn apart by having to listen to your baby cry & want to just run in there…
Just try your best - like you always do - you’ll do just fine!!
PS- you are a great mom & look at all the babies in the world who don’t have a mom half as good as you !!
Call me today on the cell if you get a chance….
~Gina
If you really want a good back carrier I would try out an Ergo carrier. It is like $100, but well spent. I use my all the time. It is tested up to 90 pounds and folds up into nothing. I can’t say enough good things about it.
I wouldn’t worry too much with Operation Tough Love, I think that they will learn on their own at some point.
I still rock mine to sleep for every nap and night time.
It is still much safer to leave all three kids rear facing for as long as possible. I am sure that you have read up on it, but rear facing up to about 30 pounds is the safest. Some seats have higher rear facing weight limits than others. I plan on leaving my son rear-facing up until he outgrows the it either in height (his head is once inch from the top) or wieght (33 pounds.)
It must be hard with being so hectic trying to get things all ready for the new arrival, but try to enjoy it while you still can.
