Well we made it almost a year without really being sick since coming home from the hospital. Almost. It started with Cole on Friday. He was vomiting everything we would put in him. Saturday the vomit got a tad better, but the diarrhea got oh so much worse (definitely a double bagger). I haven’t held Cole this much in my arms since the good old days of kangaroo care in the NICU. He’s gone from a pinball to a limp noodle for the past 3 days. He was still pretty out of it today, but he’s shown some signs that he’s coming back to his old self; so we were feeling pretty good the stomach bug was almost through him.
Of course at that moment in time, Paige starts vomiting everywhere. Ugh, how did I know this bug was going to go from Cole to Paige. Paige is now playing the part of the limp noodle. Being a parent is one of the greatest jobs there is, but man does it suck when your kids are sick. I definitely felt helpless when we were in the NICU for 4 months, but this helplessness is much worse because they are sick under our watch. Yep, kids get sick, that’s a fact, it just doesn’t mean we have to like it! Boy how I’m dreading the day when Tobie and I and the kids are down for the count. I’m putting the national guard on my speed dial list now, just in case we need some reinforcements! It’s too late for Paige and Cole, but we can still save Drew. Save the newborn, save the world (eh, a Heroes play on words anyone?).

Looking good right before vomit fest 2007!

Oh my goodness. Poor poor Cole! That picture is so sad! And I bet Paige didn’t even know what hit her! Poor babies. We just had something similar hit here today. I am trying to contain poo while changing shirts tons from the puke. Nasty! I’m glad to hear that Cole is coming through it pretty quickly though!
Sorry the babies are sick
That’s a pretty pitiful look on the Cole’s face….
I wish I could do something to help

Sorry guys
Hope the little fellas pull through quick.
On a completely different and much more cheerful note - Paige looks like such a little *girl* now! (as in a toddler, not a wee baby). I noticed it in the 1 year old, post and in this adorable snap as well.
They’re both gonna be little heartbreakers, that’s for sure
Keep them safe! Wishing a speedy recovery to all.
we are sick up here too:( yeah it royally sucks! So sorry to hear that the kiddos have the bug…. hang in there
Gina you could come over and hold babies!
Oh you poor babies. Get well soon sweethearts. Colds give us lots of time to hold our kids.
Not that I want colds!
Shannon
Poor babies! A few weeks ago all 3 of us were sick…….thank God my mom came and took John for a few days.
Jill
Let us know where your mom lives so we can drop the kids off.
Eric,
Don’t you remeber I am pregnant??? - no offense, but I don’t want to get sick
Or do I want Hayden to get sick either….
otherwise I would….
Guess YOU will have to hold them for me
~Gina
Aww, sorry that the babies are sick. Sending positive get well vibes to your sweethearts. Poor Cole, I just want to scoop him up. Paige looks so cute in that picture. Hope you guys get passed this “poopie” phase quickly!
Maria

aww poor babies!!!
Feel better! prayers comin for a speedway fast recovery!!
Sorry, dude. That’s a rough one. We were there a week and a half ago. 15 hours of vomiting every 20-30 minutes until we hit up the ER. Luckily our little man (same age as Paige and Cole, but FT) weighs 28lbs, so they were able to give him meds and stop the bad stuff.
STAY WELL YOURSELF!!!
We suffered through Rotavirus a couple of weeks ago with our 24 weeker (now 16 months) and it was horrible. Sending prayers your way! Lisa
I feel your pain. I have quads. Will be 3 in a couple of weeks. We had avoided any major vomit events until just before Thanksgiving last year. And it truly did suck. Nothing like giving baths, changing beds and doing laundry at 4am. And then the wife got it. And then I got it. Good times….good times.
Bummer! But I have to tell you, having gone through all three scenarios - it’s hard when they’re sick and you’re healthy, it’s harder when everyone is sick, but it’s the HARDEST when you’re sick and they’re perfectly fine. I’m just at the tail end of the WORST case of strep ever and I didn’t have the energy to hold my baby and my toddler was running around the house just trashing the place and whining for me to help him and I couldn’t even move! If they were sick with me, we could just lie on the couch together and wallow. I had to beg family to come help me and help them!
Hang in there, this, too, shall pass, you’ll laugh about this someday, and all those platitudes that mean nothing when you’re up to your elbows in vomit and sweat and drool and snot and all other bodily fluids!
