Cole Cole Deep In Thought Cole and Drew Paige

I really hate that last post. I don’t like writing about “the dark side” of our princess. We have our developmental doctor visit in about 3 weeks. You can guess what the main topic we will want to talk about. Tonight I let her fall asleep on me for about 1/2 hour, laid her down in her crib, tip toed out of the room, and carefully shut the door.Silence.It was great. For about 20 seconds, then she started her routine. It only lasted about 5 minutes, so that’s progress, right?I’ve been meaning to write about how great the kids have been doing, sans bedtime for Paige. It’s like a whole new world has opened up for the babies toddlers the past few weeks. They have finally discovered each other. You’re laughing, I can tell. But no seriously, they just started playing with each other. It’s incredible to watch their interaction. They’ll laugh at each other, pat each other on the head, and even play the “hey that’s my toy” game. But they have two favorite games to play with each other. They love “chase”, the only problem is they both head out in opposite directions. We’re working on that one. The other game is “piss daddy off”. This game is a hoot. They see me watching TV and then proceed to turn it off. Off, on, off, on, off. They could do it for hours. I on the other hand will just find something else to do. Who’s bright idea was to make the power switch glow bright red, at the perfect level for a toddler to press it? I guess this is why I need a 60 inch plasma tv to hang on the wall out of reach. God I’m good.

Developmentally, Cole is nailing milestone after milestone. He is walking like a champ with his arms down. Most of the time, he has a toy in each hand. If he is our little pinball, our house is our pinball machine. I could just sit for hours and watch him bounce from one area to another. He just started grabbing toys with pull ropes and he’ll drag them behind him. He’ll even switch hands when rounding a corner so the toy won’t go off it’s wheels. His vocabulary is also taking off. He says dog, good, and I think Drew Drew. He’s able to rattle off a string of words. Obviously not much makes sense, but you can tell he’s trying to communicate. I think it’s just a matter of weeks before a bunch of words come out. Probably one of my favorite things he does is part of our bedtime routine. Typically each night, Tobie draws a bath upstairs for the babies. I’ll then say “come on babies, bath time” and they’ll come to the base of the stairs. Both babies then race up the stairs. Once Cole reaches the top, he walks around the open gate and shuts it. It’s like clockwork. If I tell him to wait because Paige isn’t all the way up the stairs, he’ll wait till she is, then he’ll shut the gate. He seems to understand so much now.

Drew has also come around the past few weeks. Besides being huge, he is smiling and cooing non-stop. He’s definitely sleeping less during the day. He loves to sit upright. He also loves to stand. I know it’s not that great developmentally for him, but he’s so happy when he stands, just like Cole was back in the day (don’t tell the therapists).

And lastly Paige. She’s been walking like a champ for what seems forever. I can’t remember the last time she even attempted to crawl. She’s about 1 month behind developmentally from Cole. I think she uses Cole has her muse. She started putting smaller containers into bigger containers. She’s really picking up on how all her toys work.

A few last items: We are going to get less therpay now. Apparently the babies are “normal” in most areas now. Some weight checks. Paige ~25 lbs. Cole ~22 lbs. Drew ~16 lbs. The phrase “eating us out of house and home” has started to sink in with me.

Wow, P weighs more than Cooper now! I am glad to hear all is well, and I hope the developmental doctor can be helpful with P’s anxiety.

I know what you mean about C’s language taking off, it seems like things are starting to “click” more with Cooper too. It’s amazing to me how perceptive he is now, I think he really understands us most of the time. Keep up the good work!

One of the best lines, in a great post. :)

I love the single picture of Cole too. Kid’s got style.

I’m glad they’re interacting more. It’s great when they interact by walloping each other on the head with stuff, or shoving each other out of the way.

Understanding has just recently wandered into our house. It’s surreal to tell them something & realize that it actually made sense to them.

Cole looks so different to me recently! I don’t know what it is. Maybe the chubbier cheeks? 22lbs! That’s a lot! My son is the same age gestationally and only weighs about 22.5lbs. And Drew! What a mammoth! So cute!

Oh totally forgot to add that Dylan does the exact same thing with the TV. So we have also been looking at 60″ plasmas! Ha! Vizio is sooooo cheap, and still has 1080i HD. We are looking into getting it at Sam’s Club.

That whole off/on game is why we recently mounted our TV to the wall. Yes, the big tube tv on the wall, just like you see at the dr’s office.

      Gay, but it works.

We bought a child safety device(hard plastic thingy)that is designed to help this specific problem. We found ours at Babies R Us. I would recommend it highly!
