Went back to the peed today because Cole was looking ragged. He puked last night and this morning. At naptime his little chest was struggling to breathe and he was HOT. At the peed he temped at 102 with a pulse ox of 86%. After a breathing treatment he went up to 92%, still not great but the peed thought he looked well enough to come home and continue breathing treatments. We’re going back to peed to make sure he’s getting better not worse tomorrow morning. We’re back on the Roids, a pulmicort/albuterol cocktail, Tylenol, oh yeah…..what would a peed appt be without an ear infection? and antibiotics for another ear infection. Cole looks beat.
Poor kid.

Poor Baby! Gotta love those ear infections… We will be in town the first weekend of April for a wedding. I’d love too get togther and finally meet the little ones. Hope Cole feels better soon. Is he letting you cuddle with him? That’s the only time I get good cuddle time with Lane. Bummer they have to be sick.
Oh, no, sorry to hear that. J’s last pneumonia (last of three in a row) was over a year ago, but my heart still sinks when I hear her so much as cough… Hope Cole feels much better soon!
I am sorry that Cole is sick again. I have a question for you. Is there a reason why your pediatrician keeps treating the ear infections? We have only had a few since the kids were born ( now 2 years old) and the ped. has never given us anything for ear infections. She would rather they resolve on their own.

my miracle 24 weekers
Awww, tough to see them sick after all the time you spend in the NICU to make them better. I hope he feels well soon
A little side note about the pulmicort/albuterol combo. My Sister, Jane, works for Astra Zeneca {maker of pulmicort}. Most docs will tell you to mix the two meds in a nebulizer. Jane said that is a huge no no. The two meds shoudl never be mixed, for one it makes both less potent, and two they can counter act when mixed. I have noticed a huge difference since we started albuterol first, rinse the neb and then pulmicort.
Hope everyone starts feeling better soon, we are just getting over the 6 week cold, hoping everyone keeps their snot in their nose for a while now.
I was scared that he’d end up back at the ped’s office, after I read your post yesterday. We are like you guys, we can’t get a break from all of the respiratory junk this year. Cooper has a cough that is starting to get worse, I’m worried it’s going to turn into pneumonia again.
This year has been worse than last respiratory season! I can’t WAIT for spring and summer!
Good to know about the pulmicort/albuterol. No one mentioned anything about not mixing them! Suzan–ear infections most times do resolve on their own. They are incredibly painful though and one time the ear ruptured with Paige. Ouch! Our peed’s office I think is just managing the pain and making sure the infection does not worsen.
Please don’t think I was criticizing your dr. Ear infections are painful and we have been fortunate not to get that many. It is hard to see your children in pain. Beleive me, after all we have been through with 24 weekers the last thing we want is more pain for our kids.

How’s Cole doing - we’ve been worried!
(We were also told not to mix the 2 meds.)
Hope he’s doing better!
Suzan - she didn’t think you you were criticizing. We typically only go to the peed for ear infections when the kids are in a lot of discomfort. Lately, we’ve been at the peed for another reason and he catches the ear infection.
Pam - Cole’s fine now that his breathing treatments have resumed. We were told by one doctor you could mix the meds, and just confirmed with this last doctor that you shouldn’t mix the meds. Nice! Always get a second opinion on everything, right? haha
I hope that Cole is doing much better now. My children have always been very good with ear infections, and haven’t exhibited that they are in pain, but I can tell there is a serious issue by the fever they quickly develop (Over 104.1). It’s no fun when they’re sick.
