So I think I’ve mentioned how awful this weekend was with Drew. He woke up screaming again this morning so we brought him in first thing to the doctor. He has a ruptured eardrum. This is supposedly incredibly painful but the doctor said it’s like a zit popping so you almost feel relief that the pressure is out of the ear when it pops. The gross part is the amount of puss and earwax that was scooped out of my baby’s ear. Yuck! So he’s on antibiotics and should feel better by tomorrow. Thank goodness. The other bad news is that he has lost 2 pounds since his 12-mo checkup two weeks ago.
Another source of angst for poor Drew-man…the doctor said he is getting his molars. I can’t believe how many teeth this kid has. At least he’s getting all this pain over with. More teeth for eating bacon!!

Poor little guy! I tell you, back in October I had a bad ear infection that turned into having mold in my ear (yeah, GROSS!!) and it was the worst pain ever, but I cannot imagine what it’s like to have that and not be able to tell you what’s wrong. I hope everyone gets better soon!
So gross (the ear carnage) but so strangely and disgustingly interesting.

Just a note, of my trio, one of my guys has only had ONE ear infection - and his eardrum ruptured. I was freaking out, but the dr said like you said, it relieves the pressure. And yes, the gunk is just plain gross. That was almost 10 yrs ago, but I remember the night oh so well. Poor baby was in so much pain he was inconsolable, then miraculously, he was better. No ill effects, so I guess he has healed ok, unless you count his selective hearing when asked to do chores or be kinder to his siblings!
