Preschool, Movies, and more

tobie   May 29th, 2008

So we filled out the final paperwork and paid our money to start preschool in a mere ten weeks.  We went to the school and met our new teacher and teacher’s aide and saw the classroom.  I can’t even express how much I know they are going to love this experience.  Their teacher looks super sweet and gentle, I even wanted to hug her.  The aide was also a sweetheart.  I explained that we’re not quite ready with the potty situation and they told me that I shouldn’t worry because we still have ten weeks to go.  When I think about how much we’ve progressed in the last ten weeks, I think yeah…we’ll make it.  Anyways, Cole jumped right in and started playing with toys, Paige was a little more hesitant, but she wasn’t freaking out so I took that as a good sign.

We went to the movies for the first time today for the $2 summer movie.  It was a G-rated Veggie tale movie.  I think every kid in Scottsdale was at the movie.  Seriously, I got there early…had a minor poop incident…and by the time I got everything packed and ready to go we were late.  Note to Gina…we didn’t need to bring booster seats….the theater provides them.  So I packed our blankies in case it was cold in the theater, drink bag, hats, and booster seats into the choo-choo train.  We weren’t allowed to bring the choo choo in the theater so I was lugging three kids and all that crap through the dark theater trying to find a seat.  We ended up sitting in the second row.  Paige and Cole did surprisingly great keeping still and watching the movie.  Drew was not into the movie at all.  He would not sit still and was making googly faces at the people in the row behind us.  Then he would jump on my stomach.  Finally we had to leave about fifteen minutes into the movie because he wouldn’t stop screaming.  Oh sweet Drew.

I have so much more to say….we are learning so many new things and saying new words everyday.  Drew is talking a lot.  In the last two days Drew has added to his about fifteen word vocabulary: ”mac and cheese” and “hello”.  Paige is saying full-on sentences which is wonderful because I totally understand her.  Cole is stringing two and three word sentences.  They are very basic combinations but he’s trying and it’s totally cute.

Melissa–no suggestions for you. It’s totally hit or miss. It’s excrutiating getting them to sit on the potty long enough to get the job done. Usually within two minutes after I take them off the potty, they poop. They are really good at telling me afterwards what they’ve done, not before they need to go.

Do they poop at regular times during the day? My son used to hide. I started trying to figure out when and catching it…. Oh… and forget pullups. Super expensive, and still FEELS like a diaper. As gross as wet underoos are ( or worse ) its much more helpful.
