24 weeks 1 day

tobie   November 8th, 2008

So today marks the same gestational day that our trips were born.  I know when I was preggers with Drew, I could not imagine giving birth at this point in the pregnancy.  This pregnancy has been by far the easiest.  My belly is big, but not that big (no comments Eric!) and I imagine this little fetus in there all red and hairy with his skin not yet formed and once again I feel so sad that the babies came so early.  Supposedly the baby is no more than a pound and a half, but we make big babies so maybe this one is pushing two pounds.  It is still weird to think that in 90 days we will have a new baby.  Up until a week ago this pregnancy was not affecting me, but this last week I have felt so freaking tired and worn out.  By the end of the night I know I’m waddling.  I can’t wait for the kids to go to bed so I can pass out.  But I also have been suffering severe insomnia at night (probably contributing to my tiredness during the day).  Oh well.  90 more days and then there’ll be a whole new set of issues (aching boobs, still no sleep, c-section recovery, jealousy issues).

So in other news:  Paige and Cole had their first parent-teacher conferences last Thursday.  I was not expecting anything but glowing reviews since they are the most amazing kids ever and that’s pretty much what we got.

Cole’s review:  Cole is a sweet gentle boy who always enters the room with a smile.  He is comfortable in all areas of the classroom and outside play.  Some of his favorite areas are housekeeping, play dough, the discovery table (water play, rice play, paper cutting, etc.) and sand play outside.

We hope to get Cole more involved during circle time where we sing songs, do movement to songs, answer questions about our daily story, or play games.  Cole does enjoy our class “name song”.  He’s doing great with his bathroom skills…yeah!  We truly enjoy him.

Paige’s review:  Paige is a sweet little girl who comes to school ready to play.  She seems comfortable at school (quite a difference from when she first started and had a hard time separating from Mommy).  Some of her favorite things include:  play dough (playing with and eating), drawing with markers (and tasting), creative art activities such as gluing or painting (and of course tasting), and matching games (she’s very good at these).

As with everyone in the class, we are trying to get Paige more involved during circle time.  She does enjoy movement to our songs.  Paige is a sweetheart.

Pretty good reviews in my opinion.  I feel like these reviews are a reflection more than anything of our parenting skills so to get a good review is like a little pat on the back that we’re doing all right.  Whew!!

Did the teacher really add the parts about her eating and tasting the play-doh and art supplies? Hehe.

Wow! Paige is out numbered! I have three brothers also one older and two younger, she has some great and not so great things in store. But I wouldn’t change a thing!
